OH NO! IF DEINOCOCCUS RADIODURANS IS
NO LONGER IN OUR ENVIRONMENT....WHAT WILL
HAPPEN?
If our bacteria was not present in our environment, it would not be bad nor would it be
good.
If it was missing from our environment, genetic damage could not be repaired. If genetic damage is
not repaired, then DNA mutations and long-term dehydrations can occur. Also, if it was not
present, scientist would be unable to do research on medicines humans might need to live on
Mars in the future. Lastly, we would not be able to use this bacteria to help clean up toxic
waste spills that are harmful to our environment.
