Today, I set up the calendar/timeline. That was so hard because I had to look ahead almost two weeks and figure out what would be needed to do, and how much time each thing would take to do. I made sure we had extra time to do any research that went unfinished and time to clean up our page/notes and find links, or fun things to spruce up the page. Jordyn set up the tabs sucessfully and has done everything needed. I know she has a lot of basketball and will work ahead when needed, which is why I am glad to have a calendar set up in advance.

 

Tomorrow I will begin research. I hope I find enough information on our bacteria. Today was eventless because we are just getting used to how everything works and also have a lot of other homework to work on. I'm also wondering where we should write the name of our bacteria on the website... and how we organize the tabs into our specific topics or just leave them as 'notes'.

In class I barely got any research done because the websites were not working at all because everyone was on them at the same. It was quite irritating because I gave Jordyn and myself an extra topic today to research because I knew we would have class time, so instead for homework I had to do that extra topic which took more time. Jordyn was gone during class for a doctors appointment so we didn't get to discuss any ideas or complications we had on the page the night before. For homework, I tried unsucessfully to find much information on Gram stains (only learning what they were and that it was positive). I still dont know why knowing if it is positive is important. I shall research that.

 

I learned that no one knows the natural habitat of DR and that it is found in random places, most commonly in Antartica. I did, however, find a lot of articles using GALE. I will return there tomrorow. While I didnt find much information on gram stains and habitat, I did find a whole page worth of miscellaneous information that I will probably need later, mainly basics and random facts. The bibliography is kinda tedius, but I know it's necessary. I need to figure out how to cite normal websites and judge which free web sites I can use, because I had to use some today. Thats about it for today.

Ms. Jansen's talk today in class was quite amusing and it really helped me choose which websites I am using, even today. I loved the tree octopus. Today I researched reproduction and there was a minimal amount of information, even on the free web. I had to search for an hour just to find any information, and I found the very basics, nothing too indepth. It seems like a trend of us finding barely any information on our bacteria. Hopefully it is just the topics we are researching.

 

I found some websites that have long articles, but are mainly miscellaneous or are about other topics then what I am researching so I will read those when I have time and need misc. information. I think I will put those websites on our wiki so Jordyn can access them too. Right now we are simply researching, and havent had to time experiment with the website or come up with creative ideas. Hopefully we can do that next week when our research is done (fingers crossed). It is quite frustrating when you cant find any information and have to spend extra time just to have atleast one thing on the notes page. I hope things begin to look up.

Today I worked mainly in class on searching for beneficial factors, which there were very little except that it can be help clean up waste sites. I finished most of my work in class because we didn't have a lab today. I'm still finding barely enough information on each topic. I'm worried that we wont have enough information for our presentation when it comes around to divide everything up. This week we really need to pick up the place and start looking for more information and cleaning everything up.

 

Also we need creative ideas because everyone else is going way out on this project and we have the basics. I really have no creative ideas. Maybe Jordyn can help or we could talk to someone else who would have ideas. I'm very stressed out about this project because I don't like not having things done, and having something constanly hanging over my head is quite annoying. I will be so exctied once this project is done with. We only have 2 topics left to research before we can start working hard core on the organizing and creativity. I don't have a lot of time this weekend, so I will see what I can get done.

Over the weekend, I only had one topic to research, and once again I found the bare minimum. Now I am VERY worried that we aren't going to have a enough information because the only topic we have left to research is current events, and it looks like there hasnt been anything recent about our bacteria. I am quickly losing steam in this project and am beginning to find it tedious and annoying because every time I go to research it takes me an hour to find something. Well once we are done with research (tuesday) we can begin organizing and brain storming ideas to make our page fun.

 

Maybe jordyn and I will get together next weekend to work together and have more time to brainstorm together. Hopefully that will work out. Lately I have just been very stressed because I have had so much homework and not enough time to research. Oh well, hopefully by the tuesday I shouldn't have that much homework and can dedicate everything to my wiki. I really want ours to look good, its just I dont have enough time yet to work on it. I hope this is enough for my journal because I really dont have anything else to say.

I found NO information about recent research of our bacteria tonight. Nothing. This is becoming VERY stressful and I am constantly stressed out now because there is barely enough information on our bacteria and there is so much to be done. Ahhhh. This weekend jordyn is planning to come over so we can help spruce up the webpage some and work together seriously since we don't get a lot of time at school. Jordyn wants to make a word search for our page, and I love the idea.

 

 I think we need more creative ideas to help us out (our grade included) this weekend I am going to work so hard. I cant wait to be DONE with this project and not constantly be stressed out =( I'm ready to work on something more interesting than bacteria, no offense to bacteria, if you know what i mean. I really have nothing to say because i didnt find any information tonight.

Today during class jordyn and I were VERY productive! We filled out ALL 5 or 6 of our Website Evaluation Guides for all the free websites that we used to research, which were quite a few. That took a lot of time and effort. Jordyn also made a word search, but had to redo it because she added spaces into the words. I really liked that idea. My shadow was telling me how to add music to our page, so I am currently working on that. Maybe I will find a niffty song about bacteria =)

 

We are still brainstorming creative ideas! I just found an amazing song about bacteria on iTunes and I realllly hope I can use it as our song for the webpage! At home I organized all my notes into paragraphs. They ended up being VERY short paragraphs, which I hope is okay...we will just have to find a fun and creative way to present our very limited information. I hope jordyn organized her notes, but I know she had a basketball game too. I cant wait til we get together this weekend to make our page amazing. Although I heard Hailey, CB and Anna's page on d. radiodurans is amazing. I am still brainstorming more ideas for the page!

Today I did very little because I had other work to do. I found some pictures and looked for more creative ideas for our webpage, yet found none. This weekend we are going to work VERY hard to make our project the best it can be. I'm wondering if we have to make a ruberic? I wonder if we are supposed to make our page into different tabs and just ignore the ones we already made or do we put everything onto one page?

 

 I really want to do well on this assignment so we are going to have to go far out this weekend to push our page to make it its best. Maybe we could a joke, quote, a poll, a video ( I dont know how), more songs? Top 10 strongest bacteria? A thing with the date, the weather (hahah), a game!, Activities, clip art. Hopefully some of these will work =) When jorge comes, we also need to talk about what we are going to say and explain to the class. tTese ideas are very helpful and make me less stressed because I have very little plans this weekend.

Today I made a huge sign for the page.  I am going to keep looking up places to add little things like this that will make our website cooler. ALSO we need to organize our bibliography and do citation builder for 5 of them. Maybe I will do that during study hall tomorrow. We have three days left and im pretty excited to work with jordyn on our project on sunday.

 

We are going to make it look amazing. I really dont have much to say tonight because I am focusing on other homework right now. BUT our website will  be so so so cool and we ARE going to get a good grade on it for sure. without a doubt. Tonight I looked for fun things to add to our page like I listed up above in journal entry 12-12. I found a poll website, a quote, and a joke. I am thinking about putting these on our mainpage along with some pictures, a word search and our bacteria song. hahaha.

Friday night I looked for more interesting things to add to our page and found none. I was experimenting with ways to make a title for our wiki. I am so so so so so sick of this project and can't wait for it to be over with. It's mainly because there is no information on Deinococcus radiodurans at all. NOTHING. I also hate having to do a project over the course of two weeks because I work better under pressure and when things are about to be due.

 

Jordyn came over today and we worked from 1:30- 5 non-stop. We made the pages into paragraphs and made them interesting to watch. We organized our bibliography and re-wrote our journals to make them in the correct form. We made a rubric for our classmates to grade us, and filled out the personal evaluations. We did not get distracted or talk, we were totally focused and worked non-stop. I am quite proud of ourselves. Ta ta forever.
