December 3, 2007

 Today was a very easy day for the project. I set up the tabs for our webpage, so we are now all ready to begin doing our research and taking notes. Kendall was VERY organized and productive tonight and make a very nice timeline. This will help us a lot in getting our work done in a timely fashion. I appreciate her hard work a lot and I don't know what I would do without her. I just have to be careful and learn that I need to manage my time wisely each night that I have basketball. If I am not able to do all of the research one night, I will make sure I finish the next night. I do not want to be the person in the group who doesn't do her work and I do not intend on doing that.

 I am really excited for the rest of our project and learning about the bacteria. It is also a really good experience working on a major project with a partner. I will learn how to manage my time, work with someone else, and do productive researching. We see how easily it will be for me to manage my time wisely when working on this project.

December 4, 2007

 Today was not a good day for my researching. Kendall thought we would have time in class to work on the research so she gaves us two topics. Unfortunetly, I was not in class nor did she get much work done because of the internet being slow. This gave us a lot more homework for tonight. I began doing my research by choosing the Gale resources because I am usually able to find good, useful information on that website. I was not able to find a lot of information on that website, which already began to stress me out. I tried many of the other websites and I was very unsuccessful. Many of the websites gave me little bits of information but not complete thoughts, which made it hard.

 I would say my first night was very stressful. I learned I need to allow myself 30 minutes to an hour each day to do my research because the information is not easily found. I learned that I shouldn't give up one one website if I cant find it usually one search. I need to try different words with the name I am searching. I also need to remember to record my bibliography, which is a pain in the butt, but something that is neccessary for this project. I am just hoping tomorrow night goes more smoothly.

December 5, 2007

 During class today, Ms. Jansen helped us understand more about the internet. It was really helpful to me because I learned what kind of websites to look for on the free web. I am still having a lot of difficulty finding information on our bacteria, even when I go onto the free web. It was much easier tonight researchnig because we only had one topic to research. It still took me an hour to find even just a little bit of informtion. I am hoping this weekend when I have more spare time I can go back and do more research on today's topic so I can explain it more in detail. I need to also find some more pictures of the structure of our bacteria.

 It is important that we still work on the creative part of our website. Kendall and I need to get together to work on this because I am figuring out that it is much easier to discuss and work on thing when you are in the same room. We need to work on the front page to add some information and some pictures. Hopefully this should be the fun and interesting part of the project. I am just hoping the rest of the research will get much easier to find informaiton.

Decemeber 6, 2007

 I was very happy today because we were able to do research in class. This helps me a lot because I don't have to do much research at home especially because I had a long day/night of basketball today. It is still hard for me to find infortmation on our topic. I even tried doing Ms. Jansen's trick but putting the bacteria in quotations. This did not give me any different results. I also hate using the free web because the sheets we have to fill out are a pain in the rear. But, I will do what is neccessary to find the infortmation. I am going to work more on the project this coming weekend when I have more time to sit down and research for a good while without having to worry about my other homework.

 I think our project is on the right track. We are staying on track with our research, but need to get together sometime before the project is due and work on the front page together. I think it will turn out very nice and I am excited to see the final product. I know Kendall and I have been working very hard and I sure do hope it pays off!

December 7-9,2007

 This weekend Kendall assigned me a very difficult topic to research, which I did not enjoy. At first, I didnt even know what the question was asking, which made it hard to research. Kendall helped explain it to me and I was then able to collect information on it. I wasnt able to find much other than stuff I had already read and wrote down for other topics. Luckily, we only have one more night of researching then we can begin to do the creative part of the website, which should be fun. Kendall and I will need to get together next weekend for a couple of hours and work on our wiki. We have gathered a lot of information between the two of us which is good. We just need to add stuff to our website to make it appealing to our friends. This is going to take a lot of work, but will be worth it in the end when we get a good grade.

 We still need to fill out the sheets for the free web websites we used over the course of the project. We also need to begin cleaning up our tabs and organizing the information better. I am excited to see how our website turns out in the end. We plan on working on Sunday afternoon. I hate being stressed and cant wait for this project to be over and Christmas break to be here! I don't want to discuss bacteria for a long after I finish this project.

December 10, 2007

 UGH! is the only way to describe how I am feeling right now. I did a lot of research to find current event articles on our bacteria and I was only able to find one but I couldnt view it unless I played money. I am becoming stressed out because I am having a lot of difficulty finding information. I want the project to be good and have a lot of information, its just finding the information is so hard. I am also worried we dont have enough information for the other topics. We have done many hours of research just not had very good luck in finding stuff. We also really need to start thinking of ways to be creative for our project. I am thinking I may make a word research and then try to think of something for Kendall to make for the website.

 I am also beginning to stress about how our final product with turn out. I want our group grade to reflect how much work we both put into this project. We tried really hard to find information even though we didnt find a lot, but I hope everyone realizes that. Kendall is SUPER smart and creative so I know she will have many good ideas to combine with some of my ideas. I know stressing wont help me. I dont need to be stressed. I just need to be positive and think about the great outcome we will have in the end!

December 11, 2007

 Today was a very unproductive night for me. I had two basketball games kind of far away so I got home late and had tons of homework and studying to do. I was not able to do all of what was planned for me to do. So, I am planning on doing it tomorrow night. I was able to sum up the first part of my facts and I began to work on the word search. The word search got messed up in my process of making it, so it didnt turn out. I plan on finishing it this weekend, when I have more time. I promise it will get done Kendall.

 Today in class Kendall and I were productive and were able to fill out the forms for the free web websites. This helped us get ahead in our project and the only thing we have left is making the webstie look created and putting the final touches. Kendall and I talked about going to her house Sunday. This will be good to finsih our project since we have a lot of work to do. We really want to do a great job on this. Tomorrow I hope we can think of more ideas in class, but I know we wont have time to work on our project so it will be challenging. Kendy and I will just have to treasure each minute we get in Biology and other times that we can discuss it!

December 12, 2007

 YAY! Tonight I was able to finish writing my notes into paragraphs which is good. I am not able to work on other stuff like finding pictures and finish making my word search. I will need to manage my time well tomorrow because I also will have to do my lab report for Biology which is due Friday. This project has taught me a lot about time management. If you dont manage it well, it will come back and bite you in the booty. It makes me so happy to think we are almost done with this project. Only 4 more nights of having to work on this and stress over it. Once it is over, Kendall and I are going to have a party!!! It was fun to learn about it, but I didnt like stressing and all of the homework it gave us each night. Thankfully lately we havent had to do research which is super helpful.

 So, when Kendall and I get together on Sunday, we need to work on a few things. One, we need to work on the main page. Tonight, kendall got some good pictures which was nice. We just neeed to rearrange some of it and add my word search and other creative things we think of. We then need to go back to our notes pages and erase our bullet poiints and make sure our paragraphs are spell-checked and well written. Lastly, just go through each tab and review all the info. We also need to decide who is going to say what when we present!

December 13, 2007

 Tonight I really dont have that much to say in this journal. Our project is hitting an end and we arent working on it that much during the week due to other homework. Today I made a word search and was able to put it on the front of our webpage. I also made a new section for our bibliography for pictures. We decided we would keep it organized and seperate from the bibliography of the websites. I think organization is a key factor in this as well. I also found a picture tonight for the front of our website, because we seem to be putting different pictures of our bacteria.

 Kendall and I finalized our plans for this weekend. We decided we are going to spend a lot of time on this website and make it look spectacular even if we dont have some of the totally cool stuff that our friends have. We still are going to make a game and organize it better to make it look amazing. We are both really excited to work on it and I cant wait ot have it finsihed because then we have CHRISTMAS BREAK! Tomorrow, I plan on doing some clean ups so that Sunday will be just be finalizing it with having us together.

December 16, 2007

 Today is Sunday and Kendall and I are working on our project. It was been going well so far. I have done the bibliography and I am about to make the evaulation sheet. We are splitting up the work and trying to get it done as quickly so we can turn it in on 5:00. I think it will be done even before then because we have been working for thirty minutes and have gotten tons done. We have to make pages for all of our information and then edit the front page. We are still strugging with the creative part. I am sure we can think of something to do though.

 I am so glad this project is done today. I have enjoyed this project, but on the other hand I didnt enjoy it. I thought it was interesting learning about the bacteria Deinococcus Radiodurans, but this project was stress filled and there was so much work that had to be put into it. Another thing I didn't like about this project is I dont know when I will ever use this info I learned about it ever again in my life. Other than those two things, I enjoyed learning how to make a website, work in a group with a partner without one person doing all of the work, and learn how to do research effectively.
